Laigh Glenmuir Site Planning Application Approved

ATH Resources plc (AIM:ATH.L), one of the UK’s largest coal producers, is pleased to announce that its application for planning consent for a new 500,000 tonne opencast coal site at Laigh Glenmuir has been approved by the local planning authority.

The 48 hectare site lies to the north of the Group’s Garleffan Site in East Ayrshire, Scotland and will utilise the existing experienced workforce, plant and processing facilities at Garleffan when that site ceases production later this year. The coal extracted from Laigh Glenmuir will service power generation, industrial and domestic markets. It is anticipated that the consent will be issued in time to commence operations later in the year.

Tom Allchurch, Chief Executive of ATH Resources plc, said: “The Laigh Glenmuir Site represents a further important step in the development of ATH Resources plc and helps to secure employment for the Garleffan employees.”
